Ben's Coming and Mark's Going

Ben recently came back from England after his six week adventure. On Friday we went to go see the Dark Knight Rises. Everyone loved it, except for me. I haven't seen the first movie so I was really confused. And on top of that it was 2 hours and 45 minutes long. I don't have the attention span for movies this long. This is why I stick to Disney movies. After the movie we went and got some convenience store beers and waited for the Parthenon crew to get out of work.

A couple of people from Parthenon came out to Gold Bar to properly welcome Ben back.

This weekend was another comic con festival where people come dressed up as different anime characters. They usually hang out down by the creek and get their pictures taken by photographers.

As always there are plenty of Naruto characters. This guy, Tobi, is the main bad guy.

Inside the building they have tons of little booths where you can buy some anime memorabilia. This booth was Spongebob. However, they personified the characters to look like human anime characters. It was pretty strange and asian. The one on the right is Spongebob and the one on the left is Patrick.

This guy was dressed up as ironman walkin around. He won some award for this costume. It was really well done! All the lights on his face and hands actually lit up and he truly looked like ironman.

There was also this horse head person sitting in the corner putting water bottles up his nose...

NARUTO!!

There was also a lot of guys dressed up as girl anime characters, which is fine, except that most of them were wearing platform heels. Korea is a very androgynous place to begin with, so when people walked around like this it was almost impossible to tell if they were a guy or a girl. The only way to tell was if they walked around in the heels like a flamingo on ice. This one was definitely a guy. Cecily followed him around the whole building trying to take candids.

This was the largest and best group of Naruto characters, but they wouldn't let us take their photo :( so we had to sneak them. However, when someone came over with a big fancy camera they let him take their photo. I guess they were just tired of posing for fans. I for sure would be tired of posing every 5 minutes for people who wanted pictures. This is Naruto's village. All good guys.

I have no idea who these people were but they were annoying. They came up to us and made us guess the guy in the middle's name. If we got it wrong, we had to follow them for five minutes. Cecily and Amanda both guessed it wrong (I wasn't into playin this kind of game) so they made us follow them for 10 minutes. When I say made us follow them I mean every time we tried to sneak off they would surround us and tell us how much time we had left. We eventually got rid of them by pretending we were taking pictures of people.

This is one of the pictures I took while trying to avoid the group above.

Last night, Mark, Ben, Joon and I went to, you guessed it, Gold Bar. Mark is moving back to the states with his wife August 5th. First, they are going on a honeymoon in Italy. They have been practicing their Italian. So far they have "pizza bene". They are movin back to Albany with his parents and eventually migrating to Boston. Anyway, he was shocked that I never made pretzel glasses as a child so he demonstrated for me.
