Buddha's Birthday Parade

After work on Friday, Alan, Ben and I went to get some barbeque. Alan and Ben were insistent that we order some cow intestines and cow tongue, so here it is. For some reason, being in a culture that eats some pretty crazy and equally scary things makes me more adventurous in my eating. I would never have even thought about eating intestines or tongue, and it looks even worse as a close up picture, but it was actually kinda enjoyable. 

This weekend is Buddha's Birthday. All of Korea has the day off, except for our academy. Last weekend there was a large two hour parade full of Korea's monasteries dressed in monk garb and traditional Korean clothes. They were all walking down the street carrying lanterns. Some were playing music, and some were even sporting floats they made. It was along one of the larger streets in Seoul and filled with people. 

Monks who weren't in the parade even came out to watch it.

This float had a guy in the front playing the drums, monks in the back dancing, and one monk in the very back chanting.

There was even a Chinese like dragon that you see in Mulan and such swerving down the street.

This one was my favorite, but it didn't come out great. It was a lotus flower surround by Korean cranes and dragons.

On Sunday we went to the river to enjoy the nice day.

After the river we went to get some barbeque. After barbeque we went to get some drinks. Peter fell for this stray cat and went to the supermarket down the street to buy him a tin of tuna. Eventually, other cats came and took it over, but this guy got his fill. Suzie followed Peter's lead and went out and bought a water and a container for it to drink from, but it wasn't fussed over the water.

In cooking class this week we made some sort of fried street pastries but also had some fresh fruit. 

And this is the bag I finally finished! It's a lot lighter than my other bag. I know it still has feminine fabric but our choices are severely limited. 

Other than that it was a pretty laid back, normal kind of week. Not to much happened.
